About me and my practice
I work in the Person-Centred approach, which means offering and holding a space of understanding, acceptance and authenticity that is ultimately led by you. I aim to facilitate people in their process and journey of change, whatever that may be. I am interested in the complex feelings of mixed heritage being born into a family with a background of different nationalities. I work with individuals 18+ with a variety of differnt issues that can be affecting them.
Experience
I have experience working as an employed and private counsellor, as well as in support work with a variety of people, organisations and charities (Mind, Future Projects and The Norwich Centre) including counselling work with university students.
I currently also work as a Youth Counsellor for a charitable organisation.
Qualifications
I am trained in Counselling to a Post-Graduate Diploma Level with the Norwich Centre, UK and I am a registered member of the BACP.
My initial interest in issues regarding culture, ethnicity and diversity led me to my studies in Social Anthropology as my Bachelors degree at the University of Manchester. From there I continued to nurture my passion for helping individuals which led me to my journey to become a counsellor.
Additional Information
I will work alongside you to aid in self-reflection, exploration of experiences rather than telling you what to do or think. My counselling is based on a relationship where we work together but you decide what we talk about and the direction of the therapy. It is an ongoing process that can be challenging but aims to lead to further self-acceptance and understanding.

Initial Consultation
Prior to our first session I will offer a phone conversation to get an idea of why you are coming to counselling and send you some more information on how I work and my privacy notice. If you are interested in working together please email me at samtawn@proton.me and we can arrange a phone call.
Fees
My Counselling sessions are £50 a session.
When I Work
I currently have availabilty on Mondays and Tuesdays during the day, and Tuesday and Wednesday evening availabilty.
